The AgTech Hackathon started in 2017 and created a foundation for New Zealanders growth and development in an agriculture setting. The first AgTech Hackathon was a great example of what people can come up with when under a little pressure while having support and caffeine to help them get through.

Participants met on Friday night and pitched their ideas for solutions to the audience. From there they formed teams. Teams were made up of prodominatly farmers and IT experts.

Saturday had participants huddled around tables cranking away at their solution while The Factory building was filled with mentors from the farming community.

By Sunday teams were well on their way to creating their solution and enjoyed the morning at James Stewarts farm seeing some farm problems in the flesh.

The week that followed was a chance for teams to put together their pitch and make any finishing touches ahead of the Dragons Den pitches during the CD Field Days that weekend.

Once teams pitched Smart Farm Solutions were named the winners taking $1000 cash!
